This is the treatment of tooth caries and its complications – pulpitis and periodontitis. The purpose of modern dentistry is the removal of the caries with the minimal effect on the healthy tooth tissue and placing a shutter / seal /, which is the maximum aesthetic and functional characteristics.

Dental sealants may be of aesthetic material, such as photopolymers glass ionomer cement kompomerite, and an undesirable material – amalgam.

Depending on its size, the caries may affect one, two, three surfaces of the tooth or the entire crown of the tooth. When there is enough healthy part of the tooth, restoring is made by apply the sealant to seal the each of those one, two or three surfaces.

Biological treatment – this is a new treatment option for teeth that suffer from tooth decay, which almost reached their living area. In these cases the drug is placed in the tooth / calcium hydroxide or MTA / and this drug is closed with a seal for one month into the tooth. The goal of this treatment is to stimulate the living part of tooth and protect him from caries. After one month, if there is no pain in the tooth, the seal will be replaced with photopolymer.

When damage affecting a large part of the crown of the tooth, the restoration can’t be done with a sealant. In these cases, destroyed part can be replaced by a prosthetic design /inlay/.

Advanced carious processes may affect the pulp /living part/ tooth. In these cases is nessesary to apply tooth root canal treatment. Root canal is a dental procedure that replaces a tooth’s damaged or infected pulp with a filling. Sometimes is necessary to kill the tooth if the damage bigger than usually.

Killing the tooth becomes by putting arsenic for 3 days or placing anesthesia and removing the living part of the tooth / vital extirpation /. When inflammation affects only living part of the tooth, then the diagnosis is pulpitis. In some cases, the inflammation is affecting part, which is beyond the root of the tooth – periodontitis. In these cases it may be necessary in addition to the root canal treatment and the placement of a medication to affect inflammation around the tip of the root.
